To create the insulin nanoparticles, the researchers exposed an insulin and water solution to sound waves. Researcher Bob Irving of Nanotechnology Victoria said that insulin nanoparticles might reduce irritation caused by powdered forms of insulin. The researchers say that the new treatment technology could potentially also be used to deliver cystic fibrosis and multiple sclerosis drugs, as well as vaccines.
