R3ady Asia Pacific Philippines Community Resilience Workshop

Related: Resilience

Meridian staff members are working with R3ady Asia Pacific, the Consuelo Foundation, the Philippine Office of the President’s Disaster Recovery and Rehabilitation Task Force, Chevron, and the New Venture Fund in implementing a community resilience system approach to resilience and recovery for Philippine communities. This project marks the first international application of the community resilience system developed by Meridian and the Community and Regional Resilience Institute (CARRI).

During this first phase of work, Meridian staff are designing and co-facilitating a workshop that will lead a group of private- and public-sector organizations working in Philippine disaster recovery and rehabilitation in developing a framework, principles, and indicators for a community resilience system that is grounded in Philippine culture and context. Once the elements of a Philippine-based community resilience system have been identified by this multi-sector group of representatives, a second phase of work will be initiated with two Philippine communities who will apply the tools and approach—validating and modifying the system based on community application and experience.
