Port of Houston Authority Community Advisory Group

Related: Environment and Natural Resources

Meridian Institute staff facilitated the monthly meetings of a 45-person Community Advisory Group (CAG) that discussed issues relating to the Port of Houston Authority’s proposed construction of a 1,000-acre terminal/cruise ship facility in Galveston Bay. The CAG ultimately developed consensus recommendations on 14 major design and environmental mitigation issues.

Also, in tandem with the development of a Draft Environmental Impact Statement by the Army Corps of Engineers’ Galveston District, Meridian facilitated a work group that monitored the site analysis and selection process for this controversial facility. Meridian also provided design and facilitation assistance to the seven-member Board of Commissioners, as they addressed the Board’s mission and strategic direction in a special retreat.
