National Pork Producers Council Meetings

Related: Agriculture and Food Systems

In 2001, the National Pork Producers Council (NPPC) faced a change in its mission and purpose. Due to a negotiated settlement with the US Department of Agriculture, it would no longer administer funds generated through a mandatory “check-off” program. (That task would be shifted to the National Pork Board, which was to be separated from the NPPC.)

Meridian Institute facilitated two meetings of the NPPC Restructuring Task Force and assisted them in finalizing a document outlining a new structure for the organization. The Task Force had 36 members, including pork producers, state association presidents, national board members, and an allied industry representative. The document was received favorably at the annual meeting of the NPPC.
