Alleviating Air Pollution in the Asian Region

Related: Climate Change, Health

‚ÄčIn April 2016, the Growald Family Fund and Clean Air Asia co-hosted a meeting entitled Alleviating Air Pollution in the Asian Region. The meeting provided the opportunity for an engaging dialogue regarding the current situation and possible pathways to manage and curb the growing menace of air pollution in the Asian region. The purpose of the meeting was to bring together a community of foundations, grantees, and experienced advisors that can help shape strategies for overcoming this important challenge. The meeting explored case examples of government and civil society approaches to air pollution mitigation, and allowed for focused discussions regarding the role of data and monitoring, public engagement, and regulation and enforcement mechanisms. Expert panelists provided detailed overviews and all participants engaged in deep discussions regarding the current situation, lessons from other regions, and future options for air quality improvements at the country and sector levels.

Meridian supported the planning, on-site logistics, and follow-up from the event. In preparation for the meeting, Meridian provided support for agenda development, and preparation for moderators and panelists.
