Wednesday, October 31, 2012

The Partnership for Aflatoxin Control in Africa (PACA) was formally launched on 31 October 2012 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, following the commemoration of African Day for Food and Nutrition Security and immediately preceding the 2012 Conference of African Ministers of Agriculture and Trade (CAMAT).

The formal launch events of the Partnership, PACA, will serve to raise awareness and sensitize high-level decision-makers on the magnitude of the aflatoxin challenge in Africa, as well as the potential options for addressing the myriad problems associated with aflatoxin contamination in Africa. Events surrounding the launch include: PACA Steering Committee orientation meeting on 30 October 2012, and Inaugural Steering Committee meeting on 1 November 2012; commemoration of the African Day for Food and Nutrition Security, 31 October 2012; inauguration and official launch of the Partnership for Aflatoxin Control in Africa on the afternoon of 31 October 2012; and inauguration of the PACA Steering Committee Members during the PACA launch.
