Partnership for Aflatoxin Control in Africa Kicks Off Country Led Aflatoxin Control Activities

Tuesday, June 10, 2014

The Partnership for Aflatoxin Control in Africa will launch a series of activities in The Gambia, Malawi, Senegal, Tanzania, and Uganda to support aflatoxin control at the country level. These activities will be kicked-off at an Inception Workshop on 10-11 June 2014 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

These countries will receive support from PACA for the following activities: a country-led situation analysis to generate evidence and support an action plan; support for mainstreaming aflatoxin control as part of food safety through the Comprehensive African Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP); and training and capacity building to collect information on aflatoxin prevalence as part of a continent-wide Africa Aflatoxin Information Management System.  In 2015 additional countries will receive similar support for aflatoxin control, including Kenya, Nigeria, Togo and Zambia.
