Meridian Facilitating Series of EPA Water Sector Climate Adaptation Workshops

Tuesday, June 16, 2015

Meridian Institute is providing facilitation support to the U.S. EPA Climate Ready Water Utilities (CRWU) initiative to plan and deliver a series of interactive workshops in which water and wastewater utility operators, consultants, state and federal agency representatives explore strategies for enhancing the resilience of water and wastewater utilities to extreme weather events and long-term climate change impacts. The workshops feature hands-on training with EPA's Climate Resilience Evaluation and Awareness Tool (CREAT), a decision support tool that allows utilities to conduct climate risk assessments using current climate data and model projections. CREAT also helps utilities develop and assess the potential risk reduction value of different adaptation plans. During Spring and Summer 2015, Meridian will facilitate workshops in cities located in four different EPA regions: Los Angeles, CA; Pueblo Santa Ana, NM; Portland, OR; and Des Moines, IA. More information about CRWU is available at: www.epa.gov/climatereadyutilities/.
