RUSNANO Announces New Co-Investor in Nanotechnology-Based Lighting Project

RUSNANO, the Russian corporation of nanotechnologies, a state-financed organization that co-invests in nanotechnology industry projects that have high commercial potential or social benefit, and the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), a federal subject of Russia, will continue co-investing in nanotechnology projects, including ones to be located in Yakutia. The two countries announced recently that they will add another co-investor to their project, "Solid-State Lighting: New Generation of Environmentally Friendly and Energy Efficient Nanotechnology-Based Lighting." The OJSC Republican Investment Company (RIC), the Sakha government's largest company, will provide US$20 million to help finance the project. Anatoly Chubais, CEO of RUSNANO, and Vyacheslav Shtyrov, President of the Republic of Sakha, also agreed to future cooperation in venture funds foundation and government procurement of nanotechnology-based products for Northern Regions and the Far East.
