Nanotechnology in Water reach 1.6 billion US Dollar in 2007 and expected 6.6 bn US Dollar in 2015
Summary posted by Meridian on 1/31/2008 A new study by Helmut Kaiser Consultancy says that the global market for nanotechnology in water and wastewater was worth US$1.6 billion in 2007 and is anticipated to reach US$6.6 by 2015. The article says, “Nanotechnologies will produce huge environmental benefits in terms of water management and treatment by improving filtering, decontamination, desalination, conservation, recycling, analysis and monitoring and sewerage systems.” The study says that the market in 2007 was dominated by nanotechnology filtration applications, which comprised 43 percent, but that nanotechnology applications for desalination and irrigation will be the fastest growing segments until 2015 and beyond. The study says that the market for nanotechnology-based water disinfection will also be one of the fastest growing segments. The article can be viewed online at the link below.
