Water-Science Programs on the Wind River Indian Reservation

Related: Environment and Natural Resources

‚ÄčIn March 2014, Meridian Institute facilitated a roundtable discussion involving the University of Wyoming Experimental Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (EPSCoR) and partners from the Northern Arapaho and Eastern Shoshone Tribes on the Wind River Indian Reservation in Wyoming. EPSCoR is establishing the Wyoming Center for Environmental Hydrology and Geophysics (WyCEHG), which supports research and education in water-related sciences. A major aim of WyCEHG is to support education programs on the Wind River Indian Reservation that will have long-term positive impacts on the community by increasing research, learning, and leadership in water-related science. The roundtable meeting built upon previous discussions and meetings. It was an opportunity for EPSCoR staff, Tribal leaders, and others to further refine and prioritize ideas for how EPSCoR could support programs that encourage water-science programs through education, workforce development, data collection and analysis, and community events on the Wind River Indian Reservation.
